—Week 2— 11th Annual FunintheUP.com Fall Color Report
Welcome to Week 2 of the 11th Annual UP Fall Color Report brought to you by me, Yooper Steve of FunintheUP.com.
Week 2: Miles driven: 525 - 35 gal of gas
Weeks 1&2: Miles driven 975 - 65 gal of gas
There was a little bit more color progression this past week but with some rain and cooler temps it has halted things a little. This is a good thing though as it has been warm and dry for much of the summer, much of the color we are seeing is a result of the stress from the heat. Hot and dry isn’t good for color change.
Overall for Week 2 there is certainly more color to be found along the roads and in the forests, little but every so slightly. Most of the color so far is really dull and muted with a few patches of color here and there. I have noticed more aspen leaves falling to the ground with yellows and some reds along with a few maple leaves with some color. Some birch trees and Ironwood trees I have seen getting some yellow now.
