Well 2024 is out and 2025 is in. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a enjoyed rolling into the new year of 2025.
On the weather side of the final days of 2024 it wasn’t to interesting, but it was kind of nice to have a few warmer days and no snow to have to shovel for the last 12 days, that is now changing as we enter 2025.

One station got to join the 100 Inch Club on the last day of 2024 and that was Painesdale with 100.1 inches of snow. We do have a handful of others with less than 20 inches to go, with this lake effect they might join in the next couple days. The 300 inch club is still possible for about 8 snow stations, but we can’t have many more lulls in the snowfall for that to happen.

Below is my updated snowfall forecast for the next couple days.
Snowmobile trails have really took a beating during the warm spell, most are in rough shape. Some snowmobile clubs have been out leveling out the moguls and trying to cover up the bare spots. Cross country ski trails stopped grooming until the last couple days a little fluffy snow should allow tracks to be set again and skate lanes to be less icy.

I think that weather warmup before Christmas hurt a bit with snowmobile traffic. I didn’t see a lot of sleds on the trails or trucks pulling snowmobile trailers on the roadways these last couple weeks, another tough Christmas for those hotels, restaurants, and bars who rely on snowmobilers, but certainly better than last year. Let’s hope we get a lot of snow these next couple months so we can have a lot of winter fun.
