Well very little snow to report for this report, basically a dusting. It isn’t looking good for awhile either if you’re wanting snow, only a few flurries here and there for at least two weeks.
Looking forward it appears to be warm at least for the next 7-14 days. These last few days we’ve recorded mid 30s across much of the UP and hit low 40s in some areas. On the ground snow totals are dropping 1-2 inches a day right now.
Snowmobile trails are not being groomed right now they are getting pretty rough but can still ride in the Keweenaw with most trails having a few inches. Most of the areas out in the western, central, and eastern UP the trails are like late spring conditions and lots of water holes. Even in the Keweenaw water holes have started appearing again.
Cross country skiers are still out on the trails through much of the UP, again pretty warm snow and no real cold temps in the near future.
Last Sunday Jan 21st my Expedition blew an engine so I am now without a vehicle for awhile. Last year my Explorer blew a transmission. It was nice having two vehicles for the case of one breaking down I had another. I’m trying to borrow a vehicle here and there right now so I can keep measuring my snow stations. I can’t say that I will be able to do LIVE videos or do any snow report videos in the near future but I’ll try.
I do have a GoFundMe if you’d like to help with a couple bucks towards a good running SUV.
Now Booking UP Guided Tours with me for 2024. UpperPeninsulaTours.com I’d love to show you some cool hidden gems in the UP, Houghton, Copper Harbor, Marquette, Huron Mtns, L’Anse, Ontonagon, Ironwood, Munising.
Good thing is during my downtime with no vehicle I have been able to do more writing, editing, organizing video and picture files, literally have about 30TB of space filled on 32 TB of available space. There’s a lot to go through so that’s keeping me busy. I’ll also be spending time working on some new videos for my FunintheUP Youtube and TourdaYoop Youtube channels.
I hope everyone enjoyed the write up I did for my hike to O Kun de Kun falls. I have hundreds more adventures and travel guides to write about. I’m excited to get this new content out to you so it can help you with planning your trips to the UP.
