Good day everyone, hope your weekend was a good one. Mine was taken up for the most part shoveling snow, measuring my 6 snow stations and shoveling them out, taking pictures, and videos.
Today’s update will list both March 17th snowfall and 18th. I have included the 3 day totals for some stations that were more in the path of the storm on the graphics for the 18th.

Today I went cross country skiing with friends, it was about 33 degrees out and clear blue skies, a little bit of wind. The wind didn’t affect us much as we were in the woods, but those a few open areas we skied through, you could really feel it. I really have to get some skis with ski skins next season, my full wax skies are nice and fast but this weather we have seen has been warm cold, warm cold, constantly changing so you’re always changing grip wax, it is really a pain as you constantly have areas with the warmer weather where the snow is colder or warmer so you get a lot of sticking or slipping, applying grip wax is truly a skill that I apparently don’t have. I am very fast on the flats and downhills but uphills it has been either slipping or sticking for me much of the season. I do have scaled skis but those are slow and wider than my skinny race skis, I am always up for some new gear.

If you were in the Ironwood area up to the Keweenaw and areas near Negaunee and Ishpeming you probably weren’t disappointed in the amount of snow we saw over a 3 day period which really was only about 36hrs of good snowfall. You can really see the snowbanks grew since Thursday night. In all reality our on the ground levels just went back up to where they were about 2-3 weeks ago.
We are still behind at many stations from last seasons snow totals, so if we want to catch up we will need another 3 snow storms at least, at this time of the year it gets to be less probable as the air warms. I am perfectly fine with not seeing another inch of snow, I really am itching for seeing grass, clear lakes, fast flowing rivers over waterfalls, and clear back roads in mid April. I like getting out and doing a little camping, exploring, and bike riding before the bugs become active.
