UP Snow Totals Mar 1st
First snow of March, beautiful Northern Lights a few nights ago.
There were some decent snow totals for today’s post. It could be one of the higher snow amounts we could see, as we all know more daylight equals more warm weather arriving so chances for snow decrease each day. The higher amounts were through the L’Anse area up into the Huron Mountains and down into the Ishpeming and Negaunee areas also down into Harvey towards Co Rd 480. Munising area also added some needed snow for the winter recreation activities as well.

This year I am really itching for warmer weather already, I think most people are, not that this season hasn’t been very cold or rough, it hasn’t. I get tired of the warm then cold, warm then cold, snow, rain, snow rain, warm cold, but that is part of life here in the UP of Michigan. Life along Lake Superior and in the UP is special and I truly do enjoy the changes of the season, sometimes winter, or should I say often a lot of our spring is taken up by a longer winter than those further south. I do like winter a lot, that is why I measure 6 snowfall stations each day and drive 45 miles each day to do it, then share the snow totals across the UP with you and do videos all winter, it helps me get through the winter.
One thing I like about winter is those cold winter nights with the clear skies, the stars shine bright and a few planets can be seen, and also once in awhile the beautiful Aurora Borealis appears in the sky. On Feb 26th, the Northern Lights showed themselves in a magnificent display. I’ll share a post especially about this night in a different post as I don’t have much time today with a full day planned into the evening hours. If you want to see more pictures and follow me on both Yooper Steve instagram and Yooper Steve facebook please do so, I am trying to be more active on both of those platforms with my personal brand Yooper Steve, not just FunintheUP.
