UP Snow Totals Mar 5th&6th
Slowly slipping further and further behind last year.
Well we had another month of low snow totals, but there has been just enough to enjoy some winter activities for most of the season. On the ground snow totals even with the few inches we have seen the last two days is slowly dropping with the slightly warmer temps and a little bit of sunshine. We will see a few snow flurries here and there this weekend into next week, with no major storms it appears as of right now.
Snow totals are falling behind a little more each day from last season, as of today Tamarack location is behind by 44.1 inches. Last year Tamarack location hit 317.4 inches so there is a way to go to match last year. However there are stations like the NWS Marquette snow station that is slightly behind last year so it should at least match it, the station has 182.2” as of today and last year ended with 204.7 inches.
If we don’t see a lot more snow now into the middle of March then we should see an early spring with most of it gone by early April. I sure would like to have an early spring so I can get some things done a little earlier than normal before the warmer weather arrives and the bug season arrives.
Tonight there was a 22 degree halo, below is a picture of it. Did you see it?
