Well winter came in like a lion and goes out like a lion, especially for the Michigamme highlands and Huron Mountains area. Areas like Ironwood and Calumet got a decent amount of snow but still came in les than half of what Herman saw for their two day.
Today Calumet (Tamarack loc) got knocked out of the #1 spot for snowiest place in the UP by the Herman station with the big measurement this morning, yesterday Herman was 16 inches behind and two days ago it was behind 22 inches. Herman, MI took the lead early in the season on Oct 16th and 17th and now takes over the lead from Tamarack location as the snowiest place in the UP as of this mornings whopper of a snow measurement for Herman. Herman also took over the high 24hr snow total today beating out Ironwood #2 which had 22 inches (11.18.22). Two day snow total for Herman is a whopping 40 inches.
Both the Herman and Tamarack loc could still hit 300 inches but both will most likely just fall short this year, but after this winter I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens, and I won’t be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.
I think this winter season will be one to remember with snowstorms bringing most of our snow with many days between storms and warming temps, then almost hitting 80 degrees a couple weeks ago and a big storm to end April and begin May.
I really am looking forward to some warmer weather and sunny skies for a few months before winter arrives again, hopefully later than this season arrived.
