—NOTE: I found some data that wasn’t entered for a couple days for Herman one day with 0.5” and the snow on April 28th of 4” so with the other snow on 30th/1st/2nd. The snow of 8” on May 2nd brought Herman to 307.5” for season.
Well folks we have our first and most likely only station to reach 300 inches for the season and that is Herman weather station. The 8 inches of snow that Herman recorded on the 2nd brought Herman to 307.5 inches for the season. There certainly was a lot of snow in eastern Baraga county and central and northern Marquette county especially on May 1st and 2nd across these areas. We saw 30-52 inches of heavy and high water content in the snow over the course of 4 days across these areas and 10-15 inches in other areas of the Keweenaw and Western UP. At some point I hope to put some stats together from this winter season, that is if I get a chance before my guided tours start picking up in June.
I took a ride out to Herman on the 3rd and did a LIVE on Facebook that you can view if you would like to see the amount of snow out there, and to think there wasn’t any snow on the ground 3 days earlier. Herman had the greatest 24hr snowfall recorded this season with the 27inches on May 1st.

Well I wouldn’t bet against at least one more day of snow flurries before the month of May is over, but I would be against us seeing a snowstorm that we just witnessed. Guided tours I lead deep into the Huron Mountains will have to wait a little while until the snow melts and things dry up a bit, but I know of thousands of places to explore so finding a fun adventure away from people is never a problem for me.
I will soon be getting back to doing Youtube videos soon and adding behind the scenes writings on these adventures here on Substack. I have enough adventures already filmed for a good 2-3 months of content putting out 3-5 videos a week if I am really ambitious between my Guided Tours and things I have going on, but right now I will aim for doing 1 video a week and if I do more I won’t disappoint you or myself. My Youtube Channels I will be uploading to are Tour Da Yoop and FunintheUP
FunintheUP - I haven’t uploaded a video in quite some time. I will be doing short videos of things in the Upper Peninsula.
Tour Da Yoop (may change name some point) will be my outdoor adventures and maybe feature some businesses and interesting people and things happening in the Upper Peninsula.
Guided UP Adventures away from the crowds to hidden gems. All ages love our adventures to hidden waterfalls, historic mine sites, Yooper Rock picking, finding copper nuggets, big scenic views, photography tours, and Northern Lights Workshops.
Thanks for being a subscriber to our #1 UP Fall Color Reports, #1 Place for UP Snow Totals and supporting FunintheUP Adventures year-round.
Thanks for the report and the LIVE drive to Herman, I watched it. The Huron Mountains are gorgeous! Wonderful that you do guided tours in that area. Looking forward to your videos on You Tube from the U.P.
