Welcome to Week 2 of the 10th Annual UP Fall Color Report brought to you by me, Yooper Steve of FunintheUP.com.
Color progression from week 2 is in the books and it is starting to look a bit more like fall each day, but isn’t really feeling like fall with the temps still in the mid 70s to low 80s with humidity still a bit high, it’s been really sticky this week.
I have a gut feeling that many places in the UP will be a bit more dull this year, with the very dry summer we have had. The forests are really crispy and the leaves are starting to loose their chlorophyll pretty fast, you can really start to see the yellow hues starting to pop along many of the main highways and backroads now. This week I have noticed the swamp maples across the UP starting to get more red but no trees with bright red yet, probably going to happen fast this year and be gone.
