Hope everyone is doing well I have a few questions to ask of you and would love your feedback as this substack continues to grow.
Charging for content is new to FunintheUP and it is important to me I get your feedback with some things that I do.
My idea behind providing a paid service is to give you things that you won’t find anywhere else and also provide a little insight to what I do around the Upper Peninsula and of course like us all get paid for our job. I have struggled to keep the UP Snow Reports and Fall Color Reports going the last few years. I did the advertiser/sponsor route with just a few businesses willing to advertise to tens of thousands of loyal readers to FunintheUP and with only a few it doesn’t work so I need to find alternatives so I can keep providing these reports and content.
The only thing keeping me around here in the Upper Peninsula is my deep passion for the area I grew up in and my work with FunintheUP keeps me here. I also lead Guided Tours upperpeninsulatours.com in which I provide awesome adventure tours off the beaten path and this helps through the summer months.
I treat what I do as a job, it really is my job, it’s a fun job, and I get to share this beautiful and unique world of the Upper Peninsula with you. As this substack grows and FunintheUP grows more opportunities will arise and I will be able to provide more and more content.

I love what you do! I think you have the best job in the world. I love the U.P. and would live there if I could make a living up there. I also run my own business. Yes, you should charge for what you do. I know the challenges that people want what you do for free. They want what I do for free also. I am struggling with my business. This has been the worse year for my business in the 25 years I have been in business. I would support you more if I was in a position to do that. I have often wanted to do one of your guided tours also. I will eventually when I have more money available. I am doing what I can to help you in your business. I tell everyone to follow Yooper Steve. You have the best video, real time, the best up to date information and it is a way for us to keep connected to the U.P. Your passion for the U.P. comes through in your videos and your writing. I will try and help out more when I can. Thank you.
